How To Stop Your Paddle Board

To stop your paddle board with a reverse stroke, you essentially need to do the forward stroke in reverse. Here's how:

  1. Hold your paddle with both hands. Your top hand should be gripping the handle and your bottom hand should be somewhere in the middle of the shaft.
  2. Extend your arms out in front of you and place the paddle blade into the water near the tail of the board. Your paddle should be almost perpendicular to the length of the board.
  3. Pull the paddle forward towards the nose of the board. You should feel the board start to slow down.
  4. Repeat the stroke a few times until the board has stopped moving.

Using a reverse stroke to stop your paddle board can be a bit tricky at first, but with some practice, you'll get the hang of it. Remember to keep your balance and not to lean too far forward or backward as you perform the stroke.
